Thanks for viewing my blog. I am the artist who painted the large floral paintings.

Heather, You have certainly impressed me by the gains you are making in both physical perfection and in combatting kidney stones.
I have been making adjustments in my diet to lower blood sugar and have recently been trying coconut oil as a replacement for canola, cooking and olive oil. I noticed some of the zone diet recipes included olive oil in cooking and would suggest that when uncooked, olive oil is
as healthy as can be- but heating destroys its benefits and actually creates some toxins that no one should willingly place in his or her system. The coconut oils remain stable even at frying temp and provides some medium chain triglycerides and some lauric acids found elsewhere only in mothers' milk. It is not stored in the liver, it is burned for energy instead. Check it out- you'll be surprised at the difference in taste and benefits.

Barbara,

CrossFit is completely scalable for all levels. However, it would be a good idea for your physician (particularly your orthopedic surgeon) to fill out a PAR-Q that is a "physical activity readiness questionnaire" before you begin any workout regimen. I would be happy to talk with you more about it. Please send me an email at heatherhodges@crossfitcentral.com

Hi,

I heard about your program from a friend and I have a question.

I had my left knee replaced a number of years ago. My left leg has a very atrified quad muscle from a surgical mistake on a prior surgery, would I be able to participate in a program such as yours?

My left leg is weak but weight bearing. I cannot run or squat but range of motion is pretty good.
