Wow ~ what an ordeal! I'm finally on the road to recovery! Post-procedure (and removal of stents), I developed a pretty severe kidney infection. However, I'm on the right medication now, thank God!

Does anyone know of a "kidney-stone-free-diet" they could recommend? I want to take every precaution so that I remain healthy!

Thank you for this site; it was quite helpful during a time of need!

Hi ~ Just wanted to report that I had an x-ray today and the radiologists does not see the stone on the right side. It was said that he can not be 100% sure and that a CT Scan would tell better, but from what it looks like, it's gone. If that is the case, I can attribute the good news to the remedy of a 2ltr bottle of Coke followed by asparagus. That same night I also drank 2oz of lemon juice + 2 oz of olive oil.

I see the doctor tomorrow to have the stents removed and hopefully the good news that the stone is gone!

Thanks for all of the support on this site! It helped!

I had really nothing to eat or drink prior to drinking the coke. I did manage to get 90% of the bottle down. And I ate the asparagus. So, could I urinate right after eating the asparagus? Is there a chance that the stones will still come out - even if I've urinated a couple of times already and found nothing?

Hi Christine,
I always try to completely void before I start the treatment and then hold it until I'm done with both the Coke and asparagus. Sometimes the extra build up helps expel the stone. I hope this helps.

Hi. After you drink all of the soda can you go to the bathroom? (before eating the pureed aspargus?)

Thanks

Hi,
Just wanted to drop you a note of thanks for the info. you have posted on kidney stones. It was very helpful to me this past weekend. Also, I'm posting in the hopes that my experience will help someone as well.
I had tried to lemon juice and olive oil thing last week with no apparent success. I looked around online for more help and came across your site. The info. you have and the comments provided by those who have responded gave me the confidence to give it a try and it worked!!! I 'captured' my urine in a clear container each of the seemingly one thousand trips to the bathroom, and inspected it closely. I never actually found any stones, but felt the burning sensation and did see some 'whitish goo' a couple of times as mentioned in a post above somewhere. I'm thinking, based on info. found on your site, that the lemon juice from last week combined with the coke/asparagus treatment yesterday completely dissolved and expelled the little devil.
I was pain free by bedtime last night and have had no pain or urinary symptoms today. The only negative side effect yesterday was epic diarrhea for the first five or so trips to the restroom then things leveled out (that much Coke all at once I'm thinking). I continued a steady intake of water all day and after about four hours started rotating in some Gatorade to help rehydrate and replenish electrolytes. I had steamed rice and a banana later in the evening to help settle my stomach. I've taken it fairly easy today, eating light meals and continued with water and Gatorade.
I think I have my life back now, the last month or so has been pretty rough. Thank you for sharing this info. so freely, where others have tried to profit from it. Bless you!

Hi ya
I had a kidney stone this past weekend while I was in another state visiting my parents and sister's family. Ended up in the ER and it was the most excruitiating pain of my life! I flew home late Mon night all the while fearful the pain would re-occur while I was on the plane! Thank God it didn't. I passed one 2mm kidney stone on the weekend, I have 5 more in my right kidney, one larger the rest slightly smaller. I am in the midst of the coke, asparagus remedy, finished the asparagus about 30 mins ago and now drinking water throughout the afternoon. So far first pee hasn't shown anything but I will keep straining it to check. Will let you know how it goes.
The one thing the pain and experience has done for me is that it was a mini epiphany - I have not been living the life I want to, now assessing all aspects of my life to lead a more fulfilling, happier life - diet, exercise (non-existent), my career choices (been miserable at work) etc etc. It's been the impetus to change the things I've not been happy with. I will never forget that I am blessed with health and how lucky we all are to have - mostly - two healthy kidneys!

Rebecca,
It sounds to me like you did pass the stone, but of course the doctor will need to confirm that. The sensation you described is exactly what it's like for me when I pass a stone. The stone itself is probably the color of the porcelain toilet so you might not have seen it. So glad your pain is gone, its amazing how much those little buggers hurt, but when they are gone the pain is gone too. Keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you so much for posting your story on the web Heather! Amazing!
Can you or anyone tell me what a stone feels like when it actually exits the body? I had cat scan yesterday, have an 8mm kidney stone. My dr said I won't pass on my own. (or I am guessing that she meant that I am not likely to?) She referred me to a urologist for a monday appt., which I am supposed to have lithotripsy. Today is Sat- no doctors to call. In the middle of the night I woke up to urinate and had a really bad burning feeling(like I've never felt) at first and then it felt like something actually popped out of my urethra opening. It was a feeling like I've never felt before. It burned then for a few seconds while I was urinating and then didn't. Could I have passed the stone? I looked in the toilet, even with a flashlight afterwards but couldn't see anything at all, but thought it could have gone deep to the bottom. My stomach and back pain seems to be gone now. I will call my dr on Monday, but just wondering what it would feel like upon actual exit. Thanks so much.
